Registration
- Locally Trained Nurses and Midwives
The following are the requirements for registration as a locally trained nurse and midwife:
- Two (2) passport size photos in natural hair, this means that no hair extensions
- Original documents of Grade 12 certificate, National Registration Card and Marriage Certificate for those who are married.
- Certified photocopies of Grade 12 certificate, National Registration Card and Marriage Certificate.
- Foreign Trained Nurses and Midwives
The following are the requirements for registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia as a Foreign Trained Nurse and Midwives (FTN):
- Download an Application Form
- Certified copies of High School Certificates or Diploma or its equivalent.
- Certified copies of Professional qualifications such as Certificates, Diplomas, Degree whichever may be applicable.
- A copy of the updated Curriculum vitae
- A certified copy of a National Passport
- A certified copy of an academic transcript where applicable.
- A copy of registration certificate with the local regulatory body in your home country.
- A certified copy of Practicing License of Practicing Certificate whichever is applicable.
- Two (2) passport size photos in natural hair without make up or jewelry.
- Foreign Trained Nurses and Midwives Bring the original certificate when coming to be re-registered.
TYPES OF REGITRATION
- Provisional Registration A Person qualifies for provisional registration as a Nurse or Midwife if that Person:
- has obtained a minmum qualification of a diploma or its equivalent in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognised Higher Education Institution;
- has undergone a recognised Nursing or Midwifery training programme;
- has been practising in a foreign country and that person"s competence to practice as a Nurse or Midwife is verified by the council.
- Temporary Registration A person qualifies for temporary Registration as a Nurse or Midwife if that person:-
- has obtained a minimum qualification of a Bachelor"s degree in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognised Higher Education Institution in the Republic; and
- has undergone an approved Nursing and Midwifery Training Programme.
- Full Registration A person qualifies for full registration as a Nurse or Midwife or both if that person has passed the:-
- Assessment
- Licensure; or
- Competence Examination
LICENSING
- Provisional Practicing Certificate A Person qualifies for provisional registration as a Nurse or Midwife if that Person:
- has obtained a minmum qualification of a diploma or its equivalent in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognised Higher Education Institution;
- has undergone a recognised Nursing or Midwifery training programme;
- has been practising in a foreign country and that person"s competence to practice as a Nurse or Midwife is verified by the council.
- Temporary Practicing Certificate A person qualifies for temporary Registration as a Nurse or Midwife if that person:-
- has obtained a minimum qualification of a Bachelor"s degree in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognised Higher Education Institution in the Republic; and
- has undergone an approved Nursing and Midwifery Training Programme.
- Full Practicing Certificate A person qualifies for temporary Registration as a Nurse or Midwife if that person:-
- has obtained a minimum qualification of a Bachelor"s degree in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognised Higher Education Institution in the Republic; and
- has undergone an approved Nursing and Midwifery Training Programme.
