The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ) has officially launched the eLearning Framework for Nursing and Midwifery Education, marking a significant milestone in the countrys efforts to improve healthcare through digital technologies.
The new framework is designed to increase access to quality nursing and midwifery education, enhance the quality of eLearning, and optimize resources. It focuses on five key areas: access, quality, demand, resourcing, and sustainability.
Speaking at the launch, Board vice- chairperson, Bob Sikahilu, emphasized the importance of this initiative.
Dr. Sikahilu said with the new framework in place, Zambia is poised to take a leap forward in nursing and midwifery education, ultimately leading to better healthcare outcomes for its citizens.

We are committed to ensuring that our healthcare professionals have access to the best possible education and training, and this framework will help us achieve that goal," he said
Meanwhile, NMCZ Registrar and CEO, Beauty Zimba said the e-Learning framework will help address critical shortage of healthcare professionals in rural areas. She explained that the framework will promote a blended learning approach, and help provide rural practitioners with equal opportunities to acquire necessary skills.
